Why we like it

AnimAll earns its place for handling animation Blender doesn't expose by default — keyframes on individual vertices, edges, faces, and control points. Maintained by Daniel Salazar and Damien Picard, it ranks 63 in the blender_extensions library.

What is AnimAll?

AnimAll is a Blender add-on for adding keyframes to object properties that Blender doesn't usually let you animate directly. Its panel sits in the 3D Viewport sidebar under the Animation tab, offering a column of data types to animate and buttons to insert keyframes for them.

Depending on the object selected, different properties become available, and the add-on works with meshes, curves, surfaces, and lattices. Enabling Key Selected Only limits animation to the elements you've selected — vertices, edges, faces, or control points — rather than the whole object. Once keys are inserted, they remain editable in Blender's animation editors, including the Dope Sheet and Graph Editor, grouped by element.

Originally written by Daniel Salazar with contributions from several developers, AnimAll is now maintained by Daniel Salazar and Damien Picard. It's available in English, French, and simplified Chinese, released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, and a video description by the original author is available.

Who is AnimAll best for?

AnimAll is best for blender artists animating mesh, curve, surface, or lattice data directly, including per-element and vertex-level shape changes.

How much does AnimAll cost?

AnimAll is completely free to download and use.

Frequently asked questions

Does AnimAll work with Blender 5.0?

AnimAll is compatible with Blender 5.0 and newer, so you'll want an install at that version or above. It's distributed as a Blender extension: drag the downloaded file into Blender, or use Install from Disk through the preferences. Version 0.14.0 targets this range, and because it comes through the Blender extensions platform, keeping Blender current is the simplest way to stay aligned with future updates. The add-on notes it requires no special permissions to install.

How do I open the AnimAll panel in Blender?

AnimAll lives in the 3D Viewport sidebar, under Animation → AnimAll. Open the sidebar in the viewport, switch to the Animation tab, and you'll find the AnimAll panel with a column of options for the data type you want to animate plus buttons to insert keyframes. The properties available change depending on the type of object selected, so a mesh exposes different options than a curve, surface, or lattice.

Can AnimAll animate only part of an object?

AnimAll includes a Key Selected Only option for this. With it enabled, only the elements you've selected — vertices, edges, faces, control points, and so on — are animated when you insert keyframes, leaving the rest of the object alone. All the resulting keyframes stay editable in Blender's animation editors, such as the Dope Sheet and Graph Editor, where they're grouped by element for easier navigation.

Is AnimAll free and what license does it use?

AnimAll is listed as free here, and it's released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. For current terms and any licensing details, check the developer's page. The add-on also notes it requires no special permissions to install, and you can add it by dragging the downloaded file into Blender or using Install from Disk. It's maintained by Daniel Salazar and Damien Picard, with contributions from several developers, and is available in English, French, and simplified Chinese.
