Batch Retopo stands out in the ScriptSpot library for handling retopology across several objects in one pass, with surface-area density options and a recommended "Reform" method. Version 1.3 extends it to the 3ds Max 2025 VDB option.
Batch Retopo is a 3ds Max script for retopologizing several objects at the same time. It carries the built-in retopology options, and its developer recommends the "Reform" option as the one that seems to produce the best results.
A symmetry option is included, working by slicing the object before retopo to produce symmetric topology. Surface-area-based density keeps mesh density consistent across multiple objects, while a separate polycount option adapts polygon density to object size, so smaller objects receive smaller polygons and larger objects larger ones. Enabling "Keep Modifiers Stack" with symmetry active adds subdivide and vertex weld modifiers to the stack, which prevents gaps along symmetry seams. The script can be stopped by pressing "esc".
Version 1.3 adds support for the 3ds Max 2025 VDB option. In 3ds Max 2024 the VDB mode adds a boolean instead of a retopo modifier, and versions prior to 2023 return a message that the option isn't available. Symmetry options aren't available in VDB mode. The script is tested on 3ds Max 2024.
Batch Retopo is best for 3ds Max artists who need to retopologize multiple objects at once with consistent mesh density and optional symmetry.
Batch Retopo is completely free to download and use.
Batch Retopo added support for the 3ds Max 2025 VDB option in version 1.3. In 3ds Max 2024, using the VDB mode adds a boolean instead of a retopo modifier, and on 3ds Max versions prior to 2023 the script returns a message that the option isn't available. Symmetry options aren't available in VDB mode, because the symmetry function works by slicing the object before retopo, and VDB only works on watertight geometry. The script itself is tested on 3ds Max 2024.
Batch Retopo does not offer its symmetry options in VDB mode. The symmetry function works by slicing the object before the retopo step to ensure a symmetric topology, but VDB only works on watertight geometry, so that slicing approach did not work well there. Outside VDB mode, symmetry is available, and when you enable "Keep Modifiers Stack" with symmetry on, the script adds subdivide and vertex weld modifiers to the stack to avoid gaps between symmetry seams. That combination keeps the seams closed on symmetric objects.
Batch Retopo includes all of the built-in retopology options, and its developer recommends "Reform" as the option that seems to produce the best results. Earlier versions crashed when any option other than the default "Reform" was selected, but that was fixed in update 1.1, so you can now choose any of the other options as well. Alongside those options, the script offers a density setting based on surface area and a polycount option that adapts polygon density to object size, giving smaller objects smaller polygons and larger objects larger ones.
Batch Retopo is listed here as free. For current licensing terms and any conditions on use, check the developer's page, since the details there are the authoritative source. The script runs in 3ds Max and is tested on 3ds Max 2024, with version 1.3 adding support for the 3ds Max 2025 VDB option. You can also stop the script at any time by pressing "esc" if you need to interrupt a batch that is running.

Sweep Profile is a 3ds Max tool from KSTUDIO for building architectural profiles with the Sweep modifier. It ships with pre-made profiles and lets you add your own from the scene or a folder.

by ITOOSOFT
SplineOffset is a modifier for Autodesk 3ds Max that clones and offsets splines, creating multiple clones with incremental offset, translation, and rotation. It works fully non-destructively and can heal overlapping splines.

FAST ARCHITECTURE Trial is a procedural mesh object for 3ds Max that generates architectural structures with parameters you can adjust in real time. It creates an FA_Building object usable like any standard 3ds Max object.

by SiNi Software
Scatter by SiNi Software is a free 3ds Max tool for distributing 3D geometry across large surfaces. Add objects, proxies and cache files, then use a distribution map that can place up to one million points.

by Autodesk, Inc.
Explode Geometry is a 3ds Max plug-in that breaks one or more selected scene nodes into individual three- or four-sided faces, with options to add modifiers and refine the resulting geometry.
