Colorista is a color add-on for Blender built around a LAB-like algorithm combined with clamping mechanisms. It focuses on saturation adjustment, an area where traditional synthesizers can run into trouble.
When traditional synthesizers push saturation past extreme values, the result is often uncontrollable hue shifts that disrupt the overall color balance. Colorista's saturation series takes a different route: it strictly controls hue, so saturation can increase while the hue itself stays stable. That approach avoids the typical color shift problems.
Colorista runs on Blender 4.2 LTS and newer and is written in Python. It's distributed under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. You can add it by dragging and dropping the download into Blender, or by installing the extension from disk. The current version is 1.1.9, updated in September 2024.
