Why we like it

Earns its place for turning object placement into a physics operation, with Stack Mode landing copies at the right height no matter the asset's origin or rotation. Version 1.2.0 adds a Gap dial and Scale Variation to stacking.

What is Dynamic Grabber?

Dynamic Grabber turns object placement in Blender into a physics operation. Dynamic Grab (Ctrl+Shift+G) lets you drag a selection around with real weight, lock an axis, rotate while carrying, snap to 90 degrees, and carry whatever sits on top. Dynamic Drop (Ctrl+Shift+D) lets gravity settle objects, with a Cascade option that builds a pile object by object, and Record Keyframes to capture it as a rigid-body animation.

The Physics Brush (Ctrl+Shift+C) paints copies that fall and settle, drawing from single objects or whole collections. Stack Mode lands copies at the correct height regardless of origin or rotation, standing spine to spine, with a Gap dial and Scale Variation. Layout shapes include freehand curve, straight line, polyline, and circle with ring, honeycomb, or grid fills; nothing commits until you dial the count and click. A weighted palette mixes several objects with per-slot size ranges and Keep Upright.

Setup Water creates a wave-ready plane sized to your scene, and objects marked Can Float splash and ride the waves with a volume-based waterline. Bake Live to Keyframes converts the motion into plain keyframes. A free Lite version includes Dynamic Grab and Dynamic Drop.

Who is Dynamic Grabber best for?

Dynamic Grabber is best for blender artists filling scenes with many objects, such as books on shelves, stacked crates, debris, or floating props, through physics-based placement rather than manual positioning.

How much does Dynamic Grabber cost?

Dynamic Grabber is completely free to download and use.

Key features

  • Physics Brush paints copies of a single object or a whole collection that fall and settle
  • Stack Mode lands copies at the correct height regardless of origin or rotation, spine to spine, with a Gap dial
  • Dynamic Grab carries the selection with real weight, snaps to 90 degrees, and brings along whatever sits on top
  • Dynamic Drop with Cascade builds a pile object by object, and Record Keyframes captures it as a rigid-body animation
  • Layout shapes: freehand curve, straight line, polyline, and circle with ring, honeycomb, or grid fills, with the exact count set before laying
  • Weighted multi-object palette with per-slot size range and Keep Upright, feeding the brush, all shapes, and Stack Mode

Frequently asked questions

What are the keyboard shortcuts for Dynamic Grabber's three tools?

Dynamic Grabber maps its three core tools to shortcuts: Dynamic Grab on Ctrl+Shift+G, Dynamic Drop on Ctrl+Shift+D, and the Physics Brush on Ctrl+Shift+C. While painting with the brush you can press S over any object to make it the new source without leaving the tool, and U undoes one stroke at a time. When drawing layout shapes, hold Ctrl and drag for a curve, add Shift for a straight line, Ctrl-click for a polyline, and press F to switch a circle's fill between ring, honeycomb, and grid.

Does Dynamic Grabber's Stack Mode work if my asset was modeled lying down?

Dynamic Grabber's Stack Mode lands each copy at the correct height regardless of where the object's origin sits, how it is rotated, or whether the asset was modeled lying down. Point at a shelf and books land standing, spine to spine; point at a book and the next one stacks on top. Version 1.2.0 adds a Gap dial to space the row, where 0 keeps items spine to spine, and Scale Variation so stacked copies come out at slightly different sizes.

How does Dynamic Grabber handle water and floating objects?

Dynamic Grabber sets up water from a single Setup Water click; if your scene has no water, it creates the collection and a wave-ready plane sized to your scene. Mark objects Can Float and they fall in, splash, and ride the waves, with a waterline computed from the actual volume of the mesh. A foam ring forms around anything touching the surface, one switch swaps to a plain version, and Bake Live to Keyframes converts the motion into plain keyframes over the frame range you choose.

Is Dynamic Grabber free to use?

Dynamic Grabber is listed as free in this catalog. A free Lite version includes Dynamic Grab with Carry Contents and Dynamic Drop, sharing the full physics core, while the full version adds the Physics Brush, Stack Mode, and layout shapes. The Lite version is a way to try the grab-and-drop workflow first. For current licensing and what each version includes, check the developer's page. A demo video is also available.
