Why we like it

FoldCraft earns a spot in the aescripts library for turning text, mattes, and keyed footage into paper-fold motion across four modes, with recent additions like Halftone paper styling and Torn Paper assemble options.

What is FoldCraft?

FoldCraft works inside After Effects and Premiere Pro, turning text, alpha mattes, or keyed footage into paper-fold style animations. Rather than flat transitions, it builds layered folding motion, with controls for texture, borders, blending, shake, and timing. It suits titles, logo reveals, social content, and motion graphics.

The tool works through several modes: Standard Mode, Alpha Channel Mode for alpha mattes, Green Screen Mode for keyed footage, and Text Mode for type. An import-image step provides the starting source, and each mode handles a different source type.

Version 1.1.0, from May 2026, added Expand Bounds to Text Mode, two new Assemble Styles named Torn Paper TR 1 and Torn Paper TR 2, and a Paper Style option with Halftone support. Compatibility spans After Effects and Premiere Pro 2026, 2025, and 2024. A demo video walking through the modes is available on the developer's page.

Frequently asked questions

Does FoldCraft run in both After Effects and Premiere Pro?

FoldCraft supports both After Effects and Premiere Pro, listing compatibility with versions 2026, 2025, and 2024 in each application. That covers the three most recent releases of both hosts. Because it works in Premiere Pro as well as After Effects, its paper-fold animations can be applied in either program. For the current compatibility list and any newer version support, check the developer's page on aescripts before installing.

What changed in FoldCraft 1.1.0?

FoldCraft 1.1.0, released May 2026, added Expand Bounds to Text Mode, two new Assemble Styles called Torn Paper TR 1 and Torn Paper TR 2, and a new Paper Style option with Halftone support. These additions extend both the text and paper-styling sides of the tool. The initial 1.0.0 release arrived in April 2026. For the full changelog and any updates beyond 1.1.0, see the developer's page.

How does FoldCraft work with green screen or alpha footage?

FoldCraft includes a Green Screen Mode for keyed footage and an Alpha Channel Mode for alpha mattes, alongside a Standard Mode and a Text Mode. Green Screen Mode handles keyed clips, while Alpha Channel Mode uses alpha mattes as the fold source, and an import-image step provides a starting source. Each mode feeds its content into the paper-fold animation. For a walkthrough of the modes, a demo video is available on the developer's page.

Is FoldCraft free to use?

FoldCraft is listed as free in this catalog. Licensing terms can change over time, so confirm the current arrangement on the developer's page at aescripts before downloading. That page also carries the complete compatibility list for After Effects and Premiere Pro 2026, 2025, and 2024, the latest changelog, and the demo video walking through the Standard, Alpha Channel, Green Screen, and Text modes.
