Fractal Noise Browser stands out in the aescripts library for pairing 250+ curated noise presets with thumbnails and animated previews, plus a User Presets section for building your own collection.
Fractal Noise Browser is a panel for After Effects that gathers 250+ curated presets across 9 categories, covering organic textures, atmospheric simulations, grunge, glitch, and more. Each preset comes with thumbnail images and animated previews, giving you a visual way to explore the effects before applying them. The interface is resizable, dockable, and scrollable.
The browser works with both Fractal Noise, which is GPU-accelerated and loopable, and Turbulent Noise, and you set your preferred effect within the tool. Apply a preset with a double-click, or single-click and use the Apply button. You can randomize the seed for instant variations, and there are options for instant animation and seamless looping.
New in version 1.1, a User Presets section lets you save and browse your own presets with the same controls and flexibility as the built-in set. Fractal Noise Browser is compatible with After Effects 2026 through 2022, and it's also available in a discounted bundle with GradientHub.
Fractal Noise Browser is best for after Effects artists who want a visual way to browse and apply Fractal Noise and Turbulent Noise presets, and to save their own.
Fractal Noise Browser is completely free to download and use.
Fractal Noise Browser is compatible with After Effects 2026, 2025, 2024, 2023, and 2022. The panel itself is resizable, dockable, and scrollable, so it fits alongside your existing workspace across those versions. It works with both the Fractal Noise and Turbulent Noise effects, and you set your preferred effect within the tool. Version 1.1 also included a maintenance update to the latest aescripts licensing framework. For current details, check the developer's page on aescripts.
Fractal Noise Browser is listed as free in this catalog. For current licensing terms and to confirm how it's distributed, check the developer's page on aescripts. It's also offered in a discounted bundle with GradientHub, so if you use both tools that pairing may be worth a look. The browser ships with 250+ curated presets across 9 categories, plus a User Presets section for saving your own.
Fractal Noise Browser includes a User Presets section, added in version 1.1, with the same controls and flexibility as the built-in presets. To add your own, make a new comp with a solid layer, apply your preset to the solid, then save the first frame as a PNG or JPG in the same folder as the .ffx, using a matching base name. For a video preview, animate the Evolution parameter and render an MP4 or MOV to the same folder with a matching base name.
Fractal Noise Browser 1.1, released March 25, 2026, added the User Presets section along with 52 new presets and a maintenance update to the latest aescripts licensing framework. The panel now lets you save and browse your own presets with the same controls as the curated set. An earlier 1.0.1 update fixed a compatibility issue that produced an 'Error parsing preset data' message when used alongside certain other third-party extensions. The initial 1.0 release arrived January 16, 2026.
