Game Changer earns its place in the adobe_exchange library for tackling a specific Premiere Pro headache: aligning file names with clip names without breaking the links that keep media online.
When you import material into Premiere Pro, the clip name shown in the project is just the original file name, and changing that clip name doesn't rename the referenced file. Rename the file directly in Finder and the path Premiere points to changes, sending the clip media offline. Game Changer works on exactly this gap.
Its ClipName to FileName function applies the Premiere clip name to the material's file name, then automatically links to the changed path so the reference holds. Move relocates files between folders, and Copy duplicates them. As of version 2.0.0, these operations run on clips selected in either the Project Panel or the Timeline, where earlier versions handled only the Project Panel.
That 2.0.0 release, published September 12, 2023, also added Sync Folder, Release Bin, and Collection, plus other features and stability improvements. Game Changer requires Premiere Pro 13.0 or later.
Game Changer is best for premiere Pro editors who want a material's file name to match its clip name in the project while keeping media linked.
Game Changer is completely free to download and use.
Game Changer is compatible with Premiere Pro 13.0 and above. Version 2.0.0, released on September 12, 2023, expanded its reach beyond the Project Panel so you can also rename, move, and copy clips selected in the Timeline. If you're on a Premiere Pro release from 13.0 onward, the extension's file operations should be available to you. For the latest details on compatibility and any newer builds, the developer's page is the place to check.
Game Changer can operate on clips selected in the Timeline as of version 2.0.0. Earlier releases only handled clips selected in the Project Panel, but the 2.0.0 update added support for renaming, moving, and copying Timeline selections. That version also introduced Sync Folder, Release Bin, and Collection, along with other new features and stability improvements. Full notes are on the developer's page linked with this entry.
Game Changer addresses a common Premiere Pro problem: renaming a material's file outside the app, in Finder for example, changes the path Premiere references, which sends the clip media offline. When Game Changer applies a clip name to the file name through its ClipName to FileName function, it automatically links to the changed path, so the reference stays intact. Alongside that, its Move function relocates files between folders and its Copy function duplicates them, rounding out how the extension manages source material.
Game Changer is listed as free in this catalog. Licensing can change over time, so for the current terms and any conditions of use, check the developer's page linked with this entry. The extension handles renaming a material's file to match its Premiere clip name, moving files between folders, and copying them, and version 2.0.0 added Sync Folder, Release Bin, and Collection to that set.
