Earns its place in the toolfarm library for bringing Greyscalegorilla's scan-based materials, studio HDRIs and models into Cinema 4D through Cargo's one-click workflow.
The Greyscalegorilla Library is delivered through Cargo, a desktop application for Windows and macOS on Apple Silicon. It includes over 3,500 scanned and procedural materials, more than 1,000 models, 650+ textures and 600+ HDRIs, plus full access to every new release from Greyscalegorilla. The library ships with an individual license that carries commercial rights.
Materials cover scanned surfaces and customizable Substance materials. HDRIs come from real locations and studio setups, and the texture set includes surface imperfections, alphas, gobos and detail maps. Discovery tools let you describe an idea in text, drop in a reference image to find matching assets, or follow visual threads with Show Similar.
In Cinema 4D, the library supports versions 2023 through 2026 across Redshift, Octane, V-Ray and Arnold. Assets are built on USD and MaterialX and can be sent to your scene with a single click, arriving with hierarchies and instances intact and materials translated into the native format of your render engine based on your render settings.
Greyscalegorilla Library is best for cinema 4D artists building scenes with production-ready materials, models, HDRIs and textures.
Greyscalegorilla Library is completely free to download and use.
Greyscalegorilla Library works with Cinema 4D versions 2023 through 2026, delivered through the Cargo 3.0 desktop application. Within Cinema 4D, its assets are supported across the Redshift, Octane, V-Ray and Arnold render engines. Because the assets are built on USD and MaterialX, materials translate into your render engine's native format based on your render settings when you send them to a scene, arriving as fully built materials rather than flat texture maps.
Greyscalegorilla Library runs through Cargo, which needs a PC running Windows 10 or later, a minimum internet connection speed of 20mb/s, and at least 15GB of free disk space per Kit. On the hardware side, the listed requirements are a 6-core CPU, a GPU with 8GB of VRAM, and 32GB of RAM. Cargo 3.0 is a desktop application available for Windows and macOS on Apple Silicon computers.
Greyscalegorilla Library is listed here as free and comes with an individual license that carries commercial rights. It includes full access to every new release from Greyscalegorilla, alongside its scanned materials, models, HDRIs and textures. For current licensing terms and the details of the different Cargo library and bundle options, check the developer's page before relying on it for a project.
Greyscalegorilla Library uses Cargo's one-click Send to Software function to move assets into your scene. Select an asset and it's sent directly, arriving with geometry organized into clean hierarchies and instances, existing assets reused automatically, and materials translated into the native format of your render engine based on your render settings. The library is built on USD and MaterialX, so materials arrive fully built rather than as flat texture maps.
