Hover is a script for After Effects that handles animated cursor interactions — hover hands, grab hands, and button clicks. It creates a cursor icon and makes click animations that you can retime by dragging a single layer.
When the cursor moves above a button, Hover automatically changes it to a pointer hand and updates the button's brightness, with an adjustable hover brightness level. It can also grab and release layers, switching the cursor to a grabbing hand icon as it does. To use a different cursor, you update the cursor precomp.
The current build is version 1.2.0, last updated April 15, 2025, and it runs on After Effects from CC 2017 through 2026, covering the 2020 through 2026 releases and the older CC versions. Earlier updates addressed similar issues: version 1.1.0 fixed an AE 2023 crash tied to the same button, version 1.0.3 fixed a crash on the "Add click" button in newer After Effects releases, and version 1.0.2 fixed a bug reported on the Japanese version of After Effects.
