Stands out in the aescripts library for its GPU-accelerated take on the Liquid Glass look, with the 1.2.0 update focused on refraction, SDF stability and alpha-channel handling.
MB Liquid Glass adds a GPU-accelerated, Liquid Glass–like effect to After Effects. The look is built from adjustable glass refraction, blur, highlight and shadow, and the effect runs in After Effects 2026, 2025 and 2024.
The effect includes a built-in rounded rectangle along with a shape list, a matte layer and a self layer. A demo video is available.
Version 1.2.0 reworks refraction, alpha handling, SDF behaviour and Self Layer processing. Long glass shapes such as search bars, pill buttons and wide rounded rectangles gain a larger optical travel range, and Self Layer SDF continuity is improved for circles, rounded rectangles, ellipses and custom paths. Simple vector silhouettes use polygon-exact SDF across the full refraction band, while custom Bezier paths use adaptive flattening based on curve length. The alpha channel now participates in refraction and dispersion sampling, so transparent and semi-transparent footage is refracted with the glass, and Blur, Frost and Post Blur process RGBA together.
MB Liquid Glass is best for after Effects artists building a Liquid Glass–like effect with adjustable refraction, blur, highlight and shadow.
MB Liquid Glass is completely free to download and use.
MB Liquid Glass lists compatibility with After Effects 2026, 2025 and 2024, and the current release is version 1.2.0. If your After Effects install falls within that range, the effect is built to run on it. For versions outside that list, or to confirm the most recent supported builds, check the developer's page before installing. The effect is GPU-accelerated, which is worth keeping in mind when you set up your workstation for it.
MB Liquid Glass is listed as free in this catalog. Because licensing terms can change over time, check the developer's page on aescripts for the current details before you download, including any conditions attached to its use. Version 1.2.0 is the release noted here, updated in June 2026. That page is also the best place to confirm what the download includes and how licensing is handled for your situation.

MB Liquid Glass 1.2.0 may produce small visual differences from v1.0.3 because of changes to refraction, alpha handling, SDF behaviour and Self Layer processing. The developer recommends trying the upgrade after an important project is finished rather than during it, so existing comps keep the look you signed off on. If you are between projects, the update brings the reworked refraction, SDF stability fixes and alpha-channel improvements described in the changelog.
