Pro Pyro is a GPU-powered volumetric fire and smoke simulation add-on for Blender, built around a real fluid physics engine that runs entirely on the GPU. It handles swirling fire, rolling smoke, explosive fireballs, and stylized gas effects, with controls housed in an artist-friendly UI in the n-panel. The whole solver runs in real time, so you can play a simulation, adjust parameters like heat, buoyancy, or turbulence, and see the result instantly without baking during exploration.
Instead of a fixed bounding box, Pro Pyro uses a sparse solver that allocates space only where smoke and fire actually exist, letting you simulate large, scene-spanning effects on a fraction of the VRAM a dense simulator needs. A full combustion pipeline ignites fuel, releases heat, and generates smoke, while oxygen depletion produces rolling fireballs that burn at the surface and baroclinic torque shreds flame edges.
Emitters come in Box, Sphere, Mesh, Particle System, and Curve shapes with Static, Rigid, and Deforming motion modes, and forces include Vortex, Wind, Attract, and Follow Curve. Results cache to RAM or bake to VDB sequences for final rendering.

Pro Pyro runs its entire fluid solver on the GPU, so you can hit play and watch fire and smoke evolve live in the viewport. Adjusting parameters such as heat, buoyancy, or turbulence updates the result instantly, and no baking is required during creative exploration. Pro Pyro provides emitters in Box, Sphere, Mesh, Particle System, and Curve shapes, with a choice of volume or surface emission. Emission runs in Continuous, Burst, and Interval modes, and you get independent control of smoke, fuel, flame, and temperature rates. Each emitter carries its own initial velocity and emitted color, plus procedural emission noise using Curl, FBM, Simplex, Perlin, or Voronoi. Emitters also support Static, Rigid, and Deforming motion modes, so a moving object imparts its velocity to the surrounding fluid.
Pro Pyro includes a RAM cache with a configurable memory limit and can bake simulations to disk as VDB sequences for final rendering. You choose which channels to export, including density, color, temperature, velocity, fuel, and flame. In the viewport you can preview as a point cloud or as live VDB. Note that the free demo is limited to a shorter simulation duration and does not include VDB export, so full export is available in the paid version. Check the developer's page for current details.
Pro Pyro version 1.1 adds smooth SDF collision boundaries for all colliders and collider color transfer to the fluid. It introduces a conservative vortex mode to keep fluid contained, along with curve emitter start and end range control. The update also brings initial velocity noise for organic motion, emitter pressure and initial state for pre-filled simulations, and a standalone sharpen option. A separate announcement notes that Pro Pyro will be integrated into Pro Particles in a future update, and Pro Pyro owners will receive a free Pro Particles license once that integration is live.
Pro Pyro is listed as free here, and a fully functional free demo is available to try before you buy. The demo runs with a limited simulation duration and without VDB export, while the full version removes those limits. Because licensing and any paid tiers can change, check the developer's page for current terms. Owners should also note that Pro Pyro will merge into Pro Particles in a future update, and existing owners will get a free Pro Particles license, which will include the pyro solver, once it goes live.
