TurboTriSmooth stands out in the ScriptSpot library for targeting triangle meshes directly, producing smoother results and nicer topology than the standard TurboSmooth on that kind of geometry. Its version 1.02 crease support and broad 3ds Max version coverage add to its practicality.
TurboTriSmooth is a subdivision modifier for 3ds Max, developed by Marius Silaghi. It subdivides triangle meshes and produces smoother results and nicer topology than the standard TurboSmooth modifier.
The modifier automatically triangulates models before subdivision, so you don't need to convert geometry to triangles yourself first. It can be applied to triangulated models, cloth, scans, decimated meshes, fluid simulations, terrain, or any triangle mesh.
Version 1.02 added support for semi-sharp creases based on edge crease values and smoothing groups. TurboTriSmooth is compatible with 3ds Max 2013 through 2024, with the developer listing support up to 3ds Max 2027 on 64-bit systems. It sits alongside other 3ds Max tools from the same developer, including TurboSmooth Pro, Tri Fill Pro and Clothify Pro. A demo video is available, and the listing was last updated on 2024-07-20.
TurboTriSmooth is best for artists subdividing triangle meshes in 3ds Max, including triangulated models, cloth, scans, decimated meshes, fluid simulations and terrain.
TurboTriSmooth is completely free to download and use.
TurboTriSmooth is compatible with 3ds Max 2013 through 2024, and the developer lists support extending to 3ds Max 2025, 2026 and 2027 on 64-bit systems. That range covers well over a decade of releases, so most current and legacy installations should be able to run the modifier. If you're on a specific build, check the developer's page at mariussilaghi.com for the latest confirmed version list before installing it in your scene.
TurboTriSmooth automatically triangulates models before subdivision, so you don't need to convert your geometry to triangles yourself beforehand. The modifier is built to work on triangle meshes and handles that preparation as part of its process. You can apply it to triangulated models, cloth, scans, decimated meshes, fluid simulations, terrain, or any triangle mesh, and it produces smoother results and nicer topology than the standard TurboSmooth modifier on that geometry.
TurboTriSmooth version 1.02 added support for semi-sharp creases based on edge crease values and smoothing groups. This lets the modifier take crease information already present on your mesh into account when it subdivides. Beyond that addition, the modifier keeps its core purpose of subdividing triangle meshes with smoother results and nicer topology than the standard TurboSmooth. The listing was last updated on 2024-07-20. For the full changelog and any newer releases, see the developer's page at mariussilaghi.com.
TurboTriSmooth is listed as free in this catalog. Licensing terms can change over time, so for current pricing and license details it's best to check the developer's page at mariussilaghi.com. Marius Silaghi offers a range of other 3ds Max tools alongside it, including TurboSmooth Pro, Tri Fill Pro, Clothify Pro, Path Deform Pro, Contrast Pro, Unwrap Pro and Deformation Cleaner, so you can review the full product line there as well.

Sweep Profile is a 3ds Max tool from KSTUDIO for building architectural profiles with the Sweep modifier. It ships with pre-made profiles and lets you add your own from the scene or a folder.

by ITOOSOFT
SplineOffset is a modifier for Autodesk 3ds Max that clones and offsets splines, creating multiple clones with incremental offset, translation, and rotation. It works fully non-destructively and can heal overlapping splines.

FAST ARCHITECTURE Trial is a procedural mesh object for 3ds Max that generates architectural structures with parameters you can adjust in real time. It creates an FA_Building object usable like any standard 3ds Max object.

by SiNi Software
Scatter by SiNi Software is a free 3ds Max tool for distributing 3D geometry across large surfaces. Add objects, proxies and cache files, then use a distribution map that can place up to one million points.

by Autodesk, Inc.
Explode Geometry is a 3ds Max plug-in that breaks one or more selected scene nodes into individual three- or four-sided faces, with options to add modifiers and refine the resulting geometry.
