BOOM Library World War II Firearms is a recorded sound library covering 25 renowned firearms of the Second World War, from the first assault rifle to pistols with designs still in use, with named weapons such as the MG42 and the M1 Garand. It includes both firing and mechanical sounds, aimed at sound design for movies and interactive media focused on mid-20th-century combat, with weapons from all sides of the conflict.
The sounds were captured on a hilltop near a forest for natural outdoor reverb, using an array of mics from shotguns to omnidirectional in AB, XY and ORTF configurations plus Ambisonics and ORTF 3D setups. Each gun has 10 different shots and, depending on the weapon, single, burst and fully automatic firing. Mechanical recordings include reloading, magazine changes, pickups, cocking actions, dryfire and bipod sounds.
The Construction Kit holds the source material, while the Designed pack processes each shot in three styles — Mechanical, Modern and Punch — crafted for true drag-and-drop use. The full bundle combines both so designed shots can be layered with source Foley for further customization.
