Chartist earns its place in the aescripts library for its chart-building toolkit, from Custom Bars made out of shape layers, comps, media or text to a saveable background system with gradients and grids. A run of updates through May 2025 added custom textures, a legend feature and right-to-left layout support.
Chartist is an After Effects plugin for creating bar charts and line graphs, described by its developer as built for ease, speed and performance.
The plugin includes a Custom Bars feature: you select an object, store it, and create bars made of it, with support for shape layers, comps, images or videos, and text, found in the Bars tab's Custom subtab. Version 1.6 adds Custom Textures, letting you apply any image, video or comp as a texture over the bars. A background system lets you stylize and save a chart background, with gradient settings and two levels of grids, and you can create a legend or key. Right-to-left layouts are supported for languages such as Arabic, Hebrew, Persian and Urdu.
