DEM Earth earns its place in the toolfarm library by pulling worldwide DEM and OpenStreetMap data straight into Cinema 4D, then layering routes, geo-coding and terrain placement tools on top. The February 2026 R6.121 service update included viewport speedups across many components and a fully multi-threaded rebuild of the Bi-Planar deformer.
DEM Earth is a real-time landscape generator for Cinema 4D that automatically downloads and caches DEM data for the entire world. The DEM Earth Generator builds terrain from that data, while the Data Manager handles custom layers and lets you select height data.
Beyond raw terrain, the plugin brings in geographic data through several objects. The Smart OSM Object downloads and manages OpenStreetMap data inside DEM Earth, and the Poly Object gives access to administrative borders and natural outlines such as lakes across the planet. The PinPoint Object places any 3D object on the landscape and scales and moves it dynamically with the terrain, and the Geo Modifier overlays anything from DEM Earth onto DEM Earth, with fields support.
For paths and tracks, the Route Object calculates routes as a spline generator, the GPX Importer brings in Tracks, Routes and Waypoints via the Poly Object, and the Track Graph turns any spline into an instant graph. A Geo-Coding Tool converts coordinates from names and names from coordinates, and Strata can solidify objects.
