Flattening handles complex meshes and non-quads, working through over a million polygons in seconds to produce flat, non-overlapping maps that carry real-world measurements. Models made of multiple islands are packed into the allocated UV space, which can use open or closed boundaries to simulate physical shapes like sheets or ribbons. Island position and orientation can be locked, with customizable padding and margin.
Stretch analysis uses algorithms similar to finite element methods, producing no stretch on developable surfaces and the lowest possible on curved ones, while a heat map and stretch bar make any disparity measurable.
