Sits at rank 34 in the aescripts library, and stands out for turning framing guides into transparent overlays you can save straight from the Fusion viewport.
Compositioneer DCTL is a cinematic framing toolkit for DaVinci Resolve Studio. It brings together grids, spirals, safe areas, and rulers, and lets you export them as transparent overlays for any production workflow. The guides run as a DCTL that you add through a DCTL Node in the Fusion Page, connected to a Background Node inside a new Fusion Composition.
The guide set covers three spiral types — Golden, Logarithmic, and Archimedean — along with six circles, all with adjustable size, position, and colors. Grid options include Phi Grid and Bisector. A secondary frame border lets you view different screen ratios at the same time, and you can swap the main and secondary frame ratios across guides, rulers, and grids. Rulers can start from either the Timeline frame borders or the Main Frame borders of the DCTL overlay.
To output an overlay, enable the "Transparent" checkbox for an alpha channel, view the node with the "1" or "2" keys, then right-click the viewport and choose "Save Image...". In-UI tooltips are available for every parameter, though not on the Fusion page. Version 1.0.0 works with DaVinci Resolve 21, 20, and 19.
Compositioneer DCTL is best for framing and composition work in DaVinci Resolve Studio, where grids, spirals, safe areas, and rulers are exported as transparent overlays for a production workflow.
Compositioneer DCTL is completely free to download and use.
Compositioneer DCTL is compatible with DaVinci Resolve 21, 20, and 19. The toolkit is described for DaVinci Resolve Studio, so plan on the Studio edition. It works as a DCTL added through a DCTL Node in the Fusion Page, connected to a Background Node, where you select NP Compositioneer DCTL from the dropdown menu. If you run one of those three Resolve versions, you can add the grids, spirals, safe areas, and rulers and export them as overlays. For current details on editions and requirements, check the developer's page.
Compositioneer DCTL exports overlays directly from the Fusion viewport. Inside the DCTL, enable the "Transparent" checkbox to create an alpha channel, then select the node holding the DCTL and press "1" or "2" to view its content in the viewport. Right-click on the viewport showing your overlay and choose "Save Image..." to write it out as a transparent overlay. From there the exported image can be used in any production workflow.
Compositioneer DCTL is set up through the Fusion Page. Create a new Fusion Composition in the Media Pool, open it in the Fusion Page, and add a new Background Node. Then add a DCTL Node, connect it to the Background Node, and choose NP Compositioneer DCTL from the dropdown menu. With that in place you can enable the "Transparent" checkbox and view the overlay by selecting the node and pressing "1" or "2". Note that in-UI tooltips are not available on the Fusion page.
Compositioneer DCTL is listed as free in this catalog. It's a framing toolkit for DaVinci Resolve Studio that adds grids, spirals, safe areas, and rulers you can export as transparent overlays. Pricing and licensing terms can change over time, so for the current details on how it's distributed and any conditions attached, check the developer's page on aescripts rather than relying on a figure here.
