Field Grid is a Blender extension from ATDIGIT that transforms any mesh object into a 3D lattice of spheres, cubes, or points. Using raycast detection, it automatically works out which points fall inside the object and which fall outside, styling the two differently — inside particles sit larger and more prominent, while outside points form the surrounding field.
The entire effect is built on Blender's Geometry Nodes, so it stays procedural and non-destructive. You add it with a single operator, then open the redo panel to adjust grid size, field size, element radii, positioning offsets, element type, and inside/outside colors. Field Grid works with any 3D mesh — primitives, characters, logos, sculptures, and more. That said, closed, manifold (watertight) geometry gives the cleanest inside versus outside detection, since the raycast algorithm relies on a well-defined interior to separate inside points from the surrounding field. For previewing, the developer suggests starting with a lower grid size, around 15 to 25, then increasing it for final renders. After changing grid size, adjusting the element radii proportionally helps keep the visual balance. These practices produce the most reliable results.
