Find & Replace Keyframes earns its place in the aescripts library for handling a specific, repetitive task: locating keyframes by value and swapping them in one pass. Version 2.0 rebuilt the framework with a redesigned UI and global search and replace.
Find & Replace Keyframes is an After Effects tool for locating every keyframe that matches a specific value and replacing them all with a new value. You set the value to find and the value to replace it with, select the related keyframes in the After Effects timeline, and click the Find and Replace button.
The search can be scoped to selected layers, the current comp, selected comps, or all comps, so a change can stay narrow or reach across a project. You can also choose which type of keyframes to look for, including value, position, color, text, or any type.
Version 2.0, released on August 14, 2023, brought a completely redesigned UI, a rebuilt framework, expanded capabilities for all applicable property types, and global search and replace functionality. It is compatible with After Effects from CC 2014 through the 2024 release. This catalog lists it as free, and a demo video is available.
Find & Replace Keyframes is best for motion designers and animators who need to change repeated keyframe values across layers or entire comps in After Effects.
Find & Replace Keyframes is completely free to download and use.
Find & Replace Keyframes supports a wide range of After Effects versions, spanning CC 2014, CC 2015, CC 2015.3, CC 2017, CC 2018, CC 2019, and the 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 releases. If you are running any of these, the tool should be compatible. For details on the current version and any updates beyond version 2.0, released on August 14, 2023, check the developer's page.
Find & Replace Keyframes is listed as free in this catalog. Because licensing terms can change over time, the most reliable place to confirm the current cost and any usage conditions is the developer's page on aescripts. There you can also review the latest version details and download the tool directly. This catalog does not track pricing changes, so treat the developer's page as the source for what applies today.
Find & Replace Keyframes works in a few steps: you input the values you want to find and the values you want to replace them with, select the related keyframes in the After Effects timeline, and click the Find and Replace button. You can also choose what type of keyframes to look for and set the scope of the search across selected layers, the current comp, selected comps, or all comps.
Find & Replace Keyframes lets you choose what type of keyframes you are searching for, including value, position, color, text, or any keyframe type. After picking the type, you enter the value to find and the replacement value, then run the search across your chosen scope. Version 2.0 expanded these capabilities to cover all applicable property types, alongside a completely redesigned UI and global search and replace functionality.
