Fluid Flow is a Blender add-on that simulates water, sand, and lava directly in the viewport, with results appearing in realtime. The whole system is built with Geometry Nodes, so there is no baking step between changing a setting and seeing the outcome.
Each material behaves differently: water flows downhill, sand piles up and settles according to a slope angle, and lava moves slowly before cooling and solidifying. You set up a domain, assign an emitter, and add terrain and obstacles as collision objects so the flow reads the surface underneath it. Simple sliders handle speed, cooling, and emission, while settings like Solver Iterations, grid resolution, Cool Rate, and Heat Radius give finer control per mode.

Fluid Flow is compatible with Blender 4.2 and later, and runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux. The system is built entirely with Geometry Nodes and works directly in the viewport, so results appear in realtime without a baking step. To get going, use Create New Simulation to generate a domain with default settings, add your terrain as a collision object, choose Water, Lava, or Sand under Simulation Type, assign an emitter, and press Play. From there you can tweak Speed, Emit Factor, and the per-mode settings live.
Fluid Flow requires no baking. Because the system is built on Geometry Nodes and runs directly in the viewport, water, sand, and lava simulate in realtime as you adjust settings. Water flows downhill, sand piles up and settles, and lava cools and solidifies. Simple sliders control speed, cooling, and emission, and you can raise Solver Iterations for extra stability or enable Blur Iterations to smooth small artifacts. A recommended starting point is a medium grid, around a 50 m domain at 200x200 vertices, then increasing resolution after tuning.
Fluid Flow runs the simulation on top of collision objects, so terrain matters. When a collision object is selected, the sim appears only on that collider's surface, which means you should always add your terrain or landscape as a collision object using Add Collision to Active Object. Do the same for rocks, walls, and other obstacles. The Collision Collection setting controls which collection the domain reads for colliders. If nothing shows up outside a collider's surface, a missing terrain collision is the usual cause.
