Why we like it

Fluxion earns its place in the aescripts library for its mask-driven approach: it turns a mask into a vector field and flows GPU particles along it, backed by turbulence, gravity, wind, and 3D controls.

What is Fluxion?

Fluxion is a GPU-based particle plugin for After Effects, built by grape design. It generates a vector field from a mask and makes particles flow according to that field. You can work with multiple masks at once, adjust the field's width and falloff, set its scale and sampling density, reverse the flow, or let particles continue past the mask ends.

Emission is handled through Box, Sphere, Point, or Mask emitters, with full size and rotation control on the non-mask types. Alongside emission rate, lifetime, and random seed, you can set speed, size, opacity, rotation, and their variations. Built-in turbulence, gravity, wind, and air resistance shape the motion, and Simulation Scale controls the timing.

The plugin supports 3D with camera, depth of field, and motion blur, plus custom layer particles for flexible visuals. Gradient control, graph-based curves for size and opacity over life, and 8 blending modes round out the visual options, all inside a clean UI.

Who is Fluxion best for?

Fluxion is best for creating particle flows that follow mask-defined vector fields in After Effects.

How much does Fluxion cost?

Fluxion is completely free to download and use.

Frequently asked questions

Which After Effects versions does Fluxion support?

Fluxion runs on After Effects 2026, 2025, 2024, and 2023. It's a GPU-based plugin, so particle generation and flow are handled on the graphics card. Version 1.1, released July 1, 2026, fixed a crash that occurred when Multi-Frame Rendering was enabled, which addressed that issue for the current build. If you're on one of the listed releases, you can use the plugin as described. For details on any versions outside that range, check grape design's page on aescripts.

Is Fluxion free to use?

Fluxion is listed as free in this catalog. Pricing and licensing can change over time, so for the current terms and any usage conditions, check grape design's page on aescripts. That page is also where you can download the plugin and confirm what's included with version 1.1, the release last updated on July 1, 2026. It's a GPU-based After Effects particle plugin that builds vector fields from masks, so the developer's page is the place to check for support and version history.

Can Fluxion use more than one mask at a time?

Fluxion supports multiple masks simultaneously and builds a vector field from those masks to drive particle motion. You can adjust the field's width and falloff, control its scale and sampling density, reverse the flow, or let particles continue past the mask ends. Beyond mask-based fields, emitter types also include Box, Sphere, and Point, and the non-mask emitters offer full control over size and rotation.

Does Fluxion support 3D and motion blur?

Fluxion includes 3D support with camera, depth of field, and motion blur. On the particle side, you can drive custom layer particles, control speed, size, opacity, rotation, and their variations, and shape appearance over life with graph-based size and opacity curves, gradient controls, and 8 blending modes. Motion is affected by built-in turbulence, gravity, wind, and air resistance, and Simulation Scale lets you control the timing of the simulation.
