Earns its place in the Toolfarm library for handling GIF, WEBP, WEBM and MP4 export from a single plugin, with batch rendering and file-size targeting built in.
GifGun is an export plugin for After Effects that turns compositions into GIF, WEBP, WEBM and MP4 files from a single interface. It comes as a 3-in-1 license covering the plugin, a desktop app and a web app.
Batch rendering exports multiple comps at once, and a target file size option hits exact file size limits automatically. Smart compression produces files around 15% smaller with better quality. You can save and share render templates as custom presets stored as JSON.
It runs on After Effects 2021 and later, on macOS 15+ and Windows 10 or 11, with native Apple Silicon support. A demo video is available. GifGun sits at rank 21 in the Toolfarm library. The latest 2.2.0 update brings stability and UI changes, including a new GIF size optimization algorithm, a Sharp YUV mode for WEBP, and 2-pass rendering for MP4.
GifGun is best for after Effects users exporting animated GIF, WEBP, WEBM or MP4 files from their compositions.
GifGun is completely free to download and use.
GifGun lists compatibility with After Effects 2026, 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021 and 2020, with After Effects 2021 and later noted as the supported range. It runs on macOS 15 and up and on Windows 10 or 11, and includes native Apple Silicon support. If you are on a specific host version, check the developer's page to confirm the current requirements before installing.

GifGun is listed as free in this catalog. It ships as a 3-in-1 license that covers the plugin, a desktop app and a web app, bundled under a single license rather than sold separately here. For current licensing terms and any conditions attached to those apps, check the developer's page, since pricing and license details can change over time.
GifGun 2.2.0, released on February 18, 2026, focuses on stability and UI updates. For GIF it fixes premultiply alpha issues, updates alpha matting, corrects color palette generation for transparent GIFs, and introduces a completely new size optimization algorithm. WEBP gains a Sharp YUV mode, a floating FPS fix and proper progress reporting. MP4 adds 2-pass rendering and a revised size optimization approach.
