Why we like it

KeyFast earns its place in the aescripts library as a keyframe-and-easing utility aimed at the repetitive parts of animation. It supports After Effects from CC 2017 through 2026 and is listed here as free to try.

What is KeyFast?

KeyFast is a script for After Effects from Breton Brander, built around customizable one-click animations and shortcuts for repetitive keyframe work. It applies common animations — trim paths, slide, scale, rotate and fade — in a single click, with easing added by default. Select several layers and click to place keyframes across all of them at once.

Beyond the basics, KeyFast can stagger layers or keyframes up or down, align keyframes across multiple layers to the playhead, and copy or paste keyframes on multiple layers. It adds overshoot to rotation, position and scale, reverses keyframe timing, changes trim path direction, and can center anchor points before rotating or scaling. Linear keyframe easing removes path handles.

The panel is customizable: adjust ease, overshoot and sliding values through quick popup panels, use command and shift hotkeys for precise control, and switch the button layout between horizontal and vertical. A compact panel fits tight workspaces, hovering over a button shows what it does, and a quick start guide covers first use.

Who is KeyFast best for?

KeyFast is best for after Effects animators who want to speed up repetitive keyframe and easing work across single or multiple layers.

How much does KeyFast cost?

KeyFast is completely free to download and use.

Frequently asked questions

Which After Effects versions does KeyFast support?

KeyFast is compatible with After Effects 2026, 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021 and 2020, along with CC 2019, CC 2018 and CC 2017. That range covers most Creative Cloud installations still in use, so you can run it across older and current versions. Version 1.2, released October 28, 2022, embedded the button images in the code to make installing easier. For the specific requirements on your setup, check the developer's page before downloading.

Is KeyFast free to use?

KeyFast is listed as free here, and the developer invites you to try it. Licensing terms can change over time, so check the developer's page for current details before downloading. The script includes one-click animations, keyframe shortcuts, staggering, alignment and customizable settings for ease, overshoot and sliding values, so its everyday animation tools come as a single package. A quick start guide also walks you through your first time using it.

How does KeyFast apply easing to animations?

KeyFast applies easing by default whenever it creates an animation, so slides, rotations and fades come out eased without extra steps. You can also ease specific keyframes, or all keyframes on selected layers, with a single click. For rotation, position and scale, it can add overshoot, and linear keyframe easing eliminates path handles. Easing values are adjustable through the script's settings, giving you control over how each animation resolves.

Can KeyFast animate multiple layers at once?

KeyFast is built to work across many layers at once. Select all the layers you want and click, and it places the keyframes and applies the easing for you. It can also stagger layers or keyframes up or down, align keyframes across several layers to the playhead, and copy or paste keyframes on multiple layers. Trim Paths can be toggled on and off across multiple layers too, which cuts down the repetitive work of animating large selections.
