Why we like it

BeatEdit earns its place for detecting the actual position of every beat rather than just the tempo, then turning those beats into Premiere Pro markers you can drive edits from. Because clip markers are stored inside the audio file, the beat work also carries into After Effects. A demo video is available.

What is mamoworld BeatEdit?

mamoworld BeatEdit detects the beats in your music and represents them as markers in the Premiere Pro timeline. From there you can generate automatic edits in sync with the music, or use the markers as guides for a manual editing process — and automatic edits can be tweaked in the timeline. It is compatible with Premiere Pro's Automate to Sequence function, which builds a cut based on the markers.

Beat detection relies on robust beat tracking technology: the IBT beat tracker developed by the Sound and Music Computing Group at INESC University of Porto, together with the MARSYAS framework developed under the direction of George Tzanetakis at the University of Victoria. In the interface, beats appear as blue bars and are audible as click sounds during playback, with flexible tools to select specific beats and add extra markers at other rhythmically relevant points.

You can create sequence markers or clip markers, and clip markers are stored inside the audio file, so they carry into After Effects when you open the same file. A beat info panel shows bpm and the number of selected beats, and work area support lets you create, move or delete markers only within the work area.

Who is mamoworld BeatEdit best for?

mamoworld BeatEdit is best for editors cutting footage or building slideshows in sync with music in Premiere Pro, whether generating automatic beat-synced edits or using beat markers to guide manual cuts.

How much does mamoworld BeatEdit cost?

mamoworld BeatEdit is completely free to download and use.

Frequently asked questions

What Premiere Pro versions does BeatEdit support?

BeatEdit for Premiere Pro is compatible with Adobe Premiere Pro 2026, 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020, CC 2019, CC 2018, CC 2017 and CC 2015.3. One caveat to note: because of architectural changes Adobe introduced in Premiere 13.1.5, BeatEdit for Premiere Pro v1 is not compatible with 13.1.5 and higher, and for those versions you must use v2. In short, versions 13.1.5 and higher require v2, while earlier versions can run v1.

Can I import BeatEdit's beat markers into After Effects?

BeatEdit stores clip markers inside the actual audio file when you generate them in Premiere Pro. Open that same audio file in After Effects, or in another Premiere Pro project, and the markers are still there. Sequence markers travel too: if you drag and drop the sequence from Premiere Pro into After Effects, the sequence markers are imported together with the sequence. That means beat information created in Premiere Pro can move into an After Effects workflow without redetecting it.

How does BeatEdit for Premiere Pro differ from Beat Assistant for After Effects?

BeatEdit for Premiere Pro and Beat Assistant for After Effects are quite different. BeatEdit does not only predict beats per minute — it detects the actual position of every single beat and other rhythmically relevant points, backed by an interface to visualize and select individual beats. Beat Assistant for After Effects is compatible with all After Effects versions since CS4, and it can also generate keyframes and stagger layers. If you need keyframes, layer staggering, or an older After Effects version, Beat Assistant may be the better fit.

Is BeatEdit free?

BeatEdit is listed as free in this catalog. For current licensing terms and any download or purchase details, check the developer's page, since those specifics can change over time. Feature-wise, you get the beat detection engine, the option to create sequence or clip markers in the Premiere Pro timeline, tools to select beats and add extra markers at other rhythmically relevant points, plus the beat info panel and work area support described above.
