mamoworld Pins & Boxes replaces complex layout expressions in After Effects with two concepts. Pins are shape layers attached to the boundaries of another layer, their mother layer; when the mother layer's size changes, the pins move with it. Parent any other layer to a pin to place it relative to the mother layer. Boxes are shape layers, solids or precomps that automatically resize so they always include their set of pins.
Boxes have controls for their borders, and animating them in or out uses built-in controls for scale, anchor and offset, all expressed as a percentage of the box size rather than absolute pixels. Shape layer boxes can also render a single line instead of an entire box. Because pins can be created for any layer, including box layers, you can nest pins and boxes to build complex hierarchies.
The layouts work inside Motion Graphics Templates and update automatically when you change the text of the template inside Premiere Pro, and they run on systems where Pins & Boxes is not installed. KBar support lets you execute any function from a button, and scripting support exposes its functions for your own Ae scripts and automated pipelines.
