Why we like it

MaskPro earns its place in the aescripts library as a mask utility panel that stays current, with a 1.2 update supporting After Effects through the 2026 release.

What is MaskPro?

MaskPro is a single panel for After Effects that gathers mask-related operations in one place. From a layer, you can select masks in one click and copy or paste them to other layers with or without keyframes, or delete every mask on the selected layers.

The panel converts shapes to masks and masks to shapes with one button, freezes and defreezes selected masks, and splits selected masks into individual layers. It can pre-compose selected layers based on their masks or bounding box, and create a matte around a layer in a single click.

MaskPro runs on After Effects from CC 2018 through the 2026 release. Version 1.2 optimized and resized the panel's icons and refined the backend architecture for performance, scalability and reliability. A demo video is available, and the developer's page carries the full version history.

Who is MaskPro best for?

MaskPro is best for after Effects users who work with masks across multiple layers and want selection, copying, conversion and clean-up in one panel.

How much does MaskPro cost?

MaskPro is completely free to download and use.

Frequently asked questions

Which After Effects versions does MaskPro support?

MaskPro runs on a broad range of After Effects releases, from CC 2018 and CC 2019 through the 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026 versions. That range covers both older and newer projects if you keep them side by side. For the current install steps and any per-version notes, check the developer's page on aescripts, where the plugin's updates and version history are published.

Can MaskPro copy masks along with their keyframes?

MaskPro can copy and paste selected masks between layers with or without their keyframes, so you choose whether the animation carries over. Beyond that, the panel handles one-click mask selection, deletion of all masks on selected layers, freezing and defreezing masks, converting shapes to masks and back, splitting masks into separate layers, pre-composing by mask or bounding box, and creating a matte around a layer.

What changed in MaskPro 1.2?

MaskPro 1.2, released on January 29, 2026, optimized and resized the panel's icons for more consistent visuals and refined the backend architecture for better performance, scalability and reliability. The earlier 1.1 update fixed a macOS issue by replacing the command key with the Shift key and extended the matte button to create a new shape layer around the selected layer. Version 1.0 was the initial release in July 2025.

Is MaskPro free?

MaskPro is listed as free in this catalog. Licensing terms can change, so for the current details and the download, head to the developer's page on aescripts. That page also carries the full version history and the latest build. This card doesn't quote a price, and the developer's page is the place to confirm how the plugin is offered before you add it to your setup.
