Motion Node earns its place in the superhive library for bringing a MoGraph-style, node-based approach to motion graphics in Blender, backed by a set of lightweight workflow add-ons and ongoing updates now at version 2.7.
Motion Node is a node-based system for Blender, inspired by the simplicity and flexibility of MoGraph in Cinema 4D. It's built around small, efficient building blocks — generators, selectors, fields, deformers, and more — designed to help create motion graphics faster and with less repetition. It removes the need for vector math and repetitive node setups.
The node set includes fields in Linear, Spherical, Box, and Curve variants, a Time Offset node, a Hex Grid Cloner, a Linear Cloner, an Align Object node, and Control Instance. Alongside the nodes, a set of lightweight add-ons handles routine tasks: Material list, Quick Tabs (opened with the F5 hotkey), Empties for instance, Bind Texture Coord to Empty, and Remove all materials.
The current release is version 2.7, updated in April 2026, and the developer has moved to smaller, more frequent updates of roughly 10 to 12 fixes or improvements each. Documentation, a tutorial, a demo video, and a YouTube channel are available from the developer's page.
Motion Node is best for blender artists making motion graphics who want to skip vector math and repetitive node setups.
Motion Node is completely free to download and use.
Motion Node ships fields in Linear, Spherical, Box, and Curve forms, along with a Time Offset node, a Hex Grid Cloner, a Linear Cloner, an Align Object node, and Control Instance. These are described as small, efficient building blocks — generators, selectors, fields, deformers, and more — meant to help create motion graphics with less repetition. The system removes the need for vector math and repetitive node setups, so you assemble effects from compact pieces rather than rebuilding common setups each time you start a new idea.
Motion Node bundles several lightweight add-ons alongside its nodes. Material list shows all materials in the scene and gives quick access to editing them. Quick Tabs hides addon tabs and opens installed addons through the F5 hotkey. Empties for instance creates an empty in place of instances created in geometry nodes, while Bind Texture Coord to Empty places an empty in a slot with texture coordinates. Remove all materials deletes all materials from selected objects. Together these are meant to smooth routine tasks in the daily workflow.
Motion Node is listed as free in this catalog. Pricing and licensing can change over time, so check the developer's page on superhive for current terms before downloading. The developer's page also links documentation, a tutorial, and a YouTube channel, and the plugin currently sits at version 2.7 with ongoing smaller updates, so its contents continue to evolve. The developer also mentions testing the nodes on real freelance and template work between updates.
Motion Node was updated to version 2.7 on 18 April 2026. The developer has moved to smaller, more frequent updates, typically bundling around 10 to 12 fixes or improvements each time. Earlier milestones include version 2.2 in September 2025, version 2.1 in July 2025, version 2.0 in June 2025, and the first release back in December 2023. A changelog for each update is linked from the developer's page, so you can review what changed release by release.
