Nexanim earns its spot in the aescripts library for its approach to animation: separating progress from value to build a non-destructive system. It supports After Effects 2026 and 2025, sits at version 1.0.4, and is listed here as free.
Nexanim is an After Effects tool built around a next-generation animation system that separates progress from value. That separation is what enables its non-destructive workflow within After Effects.
The tool targets three problems found in traditional animation systems: curve distortion that occurs when you change a value, values that stay fixed on the timeline, and the difficulty of synchronizing properties. It also lets you manage keyframed values dynamically with expressions, and move multiple properties with the same timing and easing.
Setting up a binding follows a short sequence: select the target properties, choose a Target Selection mode from Same, New, or Stored, then run BIND. Nexanim runs on After Effects 2026 and 2025, and version 1.0.4 improved processing for bindings to scale properties. A demo video is available.
Nexanim is best for after Effects animators who want a non-destructive way to change values without distorting easing, synchronize multiple properties, and manage keyframed values with expressions.
Nexanim is completely free to download and use.
Nexanim supports After Effects 2026 and 2025. If you're on one of these versions, you can run the tool's binding workflow directly in your projects. Both are among the newer After Effects releases. Version 1.0.4, released March 16, 2026, added improved processing for bindings to scale properties. For versions outside 2026 and 2025, check the developer's page, since compatibility beyond these listed releases isn't confirmed.
Nexanim sets up a binding through a short sequence of steps. First you select the target properties. Next you choose a Target Selection mode, with Same, New, and Stored as the options. Finally you run BIND. This is the core workflow behind the tool's non-destructive animation system, which separates progress from value and lets you manage keyframed values dynamically with expressions. The binding steps run inside After Effects 2026 and 2025.
Nexanim is built to change a value while keeping the existing easing, so the curve does not shift when you edit the value. That addresses one of the three issues it targets in traditional animation systems, alongside values that stay fixed on the timeline and the difficulty of synchronizing properties. Its foundation is the separation of progress from value, which supports the non-destructive workflow. You can also move multiple properties with the same timing and easing.
Nexanim is listed here as free. Licensing terms can change over time, so the developer's page on aescripts is the best place to confirm the current terms before downloading. The tool is at version 1.0.4, updated March 16, 2026, with its initial release, version 1.0.3, dated March 3, 2026. It runs on After Effects 2026 and 2025, and a demo video is available.
