Why we like it

Particles Link earns its place in the superhive library for its breadth — 10 link styles plus support for particle systems, point clouds and Geometry Nodes — backed by a GPU engine and live viewport editing.

What is Particles Link?

Particles Link is a Blender add-on from IK3D that turns particles into animated link artwork, generating the connections live in the viewport. It works with particle systems, point clouds and Geometry Nodes, so points from both classic and modern setups can be linked. Ten link styles are on offer: Flow Line, Network, Tree, Clusters, Hair, Current, Cobweb, Orb Web, Loops and Tracer.

Version 5 runs on a new GPU-powered engine for faster link generation, holding up even on very dense simulations. Tracer mode builds particle trails frame by frame for organic motion streaks, and editing stays fully interactive — adjust the links and see the result instantly. Full curve control covers bevel, radius, tension and interpolation.

Results can be baked to an Alembic cache (.abc) for instant playback, sharing and render farm use. The add-on is compatible with Blender 3.6 through 5.1 and is released under the GPL license. A demo video is available on the developer's page.

Who is Particles Link best for?

Particles Link is best for blender artists building animated networks, webs, flowing strands and motion trails from particle systems, point clouds or Geometry Nodes.

How much does Particles Link cost?

Particles Link is completely free to download and use.

Frequently asked questions

Which Blender versions does Particles Link support?

Particles Link is compatible with Blender 3.6 through 5.1, covering a wide span of recent releases. Version 5 is built for Blender 5.x and introduces a new GPU-powered engine for faster link generation. If you are running a build outside the listed range, check the developer's page for the current compatibility details before installing, since supported versions can shift as Blender itself updates.

Does Particles Link work with Geometry Nodes and point clouds?

Particles Link works with particle systems, point clouds and Geometry Nodes, so it can link points from classic particle setups as well as modern node-based ones. That means the connecting links can be generated from a range of sources rather than particle systems alone. For guidance on setting each source up, the developer's page and the available tutorials are the best reference.

Can I export or bake Particles Link results?

Particles Link can bake its output to an Alembic cache (.abc), which supports instant playback, easy sharing and render farm use. Baking to a cache lets the generated links be handed off without recalculating them each time. Alongside baking, the add-on gives full curve control over bevel, radius, tension and interpolation, so the look of the links can be shaped before the cache is written.

Is Particles Link free to use?

Particles Link is listed as free here and is released under the GPL license. Licensing terms can change over time, so for the current licensing details it is best to check the developer's page directly before downloading. The listing also notes the add-on is a Blender extension compatible with Blender 3.6 through 5.1, and it is a Dev Fund contributor entry from IK3D.
