PathBlurFX is a plugin for After Effects that applies a GPU-accelerated blur along a mask path. It works by generating a vector field from the mask path, then uses that field to drive the blur. The result can produce effects similar to motion blur or smear.
Blur falloff is controlled by position along the path, so the strength can differ from one part of the path to another. A Dynamic Sampling option keeps the sample density consistent, and the plugin exposes full control over the blur through a simple, minimal interface.
PathBlurFX reached version 1.3 on July 8, 2026, following its initial release on September 29, 2025. It supports After Effects 2026, 2025, 2024 and 2023, with GPU support added in version 1.1. It ranks 178 in the aescripts library, and a demo video is available.
