Why we like it

A dedicated color-and-tone matching tool for both newcomers to color correction and professionals pre-grading footage. It sits at popularity rank 66 on toolfarm.

What is RE:Vision Effects RE:Match?

RE:Match takes the color and tone from one image and transfers it onto another. People who aren't familiar with color correction can use it to get more matching clips, while professionals can pre-grade to simplify their workflow. It matches colors automatically, correcting one shot to match another when working with multiple takes or cameras.

Control is flexible. RE:Match can match using the whole image or part of an image, and can reference any point in time. A Color Correction Dissolve blends corrective matching between user-selected reference frames along the timeline, and the reference can even be a set of stills. You can store the current color correction and reuse it on other sequences by cutting and pasting the plug-in to another clip. It works well with over-bright values and very wide dynamic ranges, and can handle more than one cut within a sequence.

RE:Match Pro is a separate product that adds stereo-focused tools, including auto image registration for stereo pairs using per-pixel optical flow, occlusion handling between the two views, frame edge difference matching, and visualization modes.

Frequently asked questions

What After Effects and Premiere Pro versions does RE:Match support?

RE:Match supports After Effects CS6 through 2026 and Premiere Pro CS6 through 2026. If you're running After Effects CC 2015, you'll need version 2015.0.1 (13.5.1) or later for it to work. Beyond the Adobe hosts, the regular license also covers Catalyst Edit, DaVinci Resolve, HitFilm, and Vegas Pro. For the exact host list and any version-specific notes, check the developer's page before installing.

Which hosts work with RE:Match's regular license versus the Pro license?

RE:Match comes in two license tiers with different host coverage. The regular license works with After Effects, Catalyst Edit, DaVinci Resolve, HitFilm, Premiere Pro, and Vegas Pro. The Pro license, a separate product, works with After Effects, Baselight, DaVinci Resolve, Flame, Smoke, Fusion Studio, HitFilm, Natron, Nuke, Premiere Pro, Scratch, and Silhouette, and also works alongside a regular product of any supported host. Confirm current host support on the developer's page.

What does RE:Match Pro add over the regular version?

RE:Match Pro is a separate product that includes all the regular features and adds stereo-focused capabilities. It performs auto image registration for stereo pairs using internal per-pixel optical flow methods, takes occlusions between the two views into account, and handles frame edge differences where the two images don't share details at the edges. It also refines matching within a matte for details like reflections, lens flares, and specular highlights, and requires no stereo alignment before use, with visualization modes to show what it's doing internally.

Is the RE:Match crop window available in After Effects?

RE:Match's crop window, which performs automatic whole-image color correction based on a smaller window of pixels for each image sequence, is not available in After Effects or Premiere Pro. If you need that particular control, you'll want to use one of the other supported hosts. The developer's page lists which features are available per host, so it's worth checking there for your specific application.

Is RE:Match free?

RE:Match is listed as free in this catalog. Licensing and current terms can change, so check the developer's page for the latest details on the regular and Pro versions before you commit. Note that RE:Match Pro is offered as a separate product from the regular version, so its availability and terms may differ. Both tiers cover different sets of host applications.
