Scribe earns its place in the aescripts library for pairing a 10-font animated glyph collection with shape-layer construction that stays editable and customizable.
Scribe is an automated typeface library from Rendertom, brought to you by compCode, for creating write-on and write-off effects in After Effects. The library contains 10 fonts with over 2000 animated glyphs in total.
Built with shape layers, Scribe lets you add additional generators to style the look of the font. Letters, or any part of a letter, can be reordered to change the animation order or fully customized into your own design. Animation capabilities are preserved even after you adjust the shape of characters. An authoring option lets you create and modify fonts.
Included fonts are Aika, Delius Swash Caps, Diamor, Heading West, League Script, Learning Curve, Mimikro, Patrick Hand, Vibur and Virilica, each designed by a different typographer. Version 2.0.1 runs across After Effects releases from CS3 through 2026, and a demo video is available.
