Why we like it

Slothmograph earns its place for packaging a full motion graphics system into one Blender panel and outputting standard Blender data—real keyframes, objects and curves you can fine-tune in the Graph Editor.

What is Slothmograph?

Slothmograph brings a complete motion graphics system into Blender, packaged in a single UI panel. Its cloners distribute any object—meshes, lights, cameras, anything with a transform—across 13 patterns, from Grid and Radial to Honeycomb, Volume and Beads. 19 effectors then push, pull, wave and wiggle those clones procedurally, modifying position, scale, rotation and color, and can be stacked, combined and masked with 11 field types.

Beyond cloners, the addon includes MoSpline for building 30+ 3D shapes with live tube thickness, build percentage and trim controls, MoText for per-character animation with 14 letter presets, plus Voronoi fracture, PolyFX polygon explosion and motion tracers. An 18-preset animation browser drops onto any object with live Speed, Amplitude and Stagger controls.

Version 1.2 adds SlothSignal for binding procedural waves to properties, Cinematic Camera rigs with multi-camera cut markers, and Cloner Dynamics for Bullet rigid-body simulation. Everything it generates is standard Blender data—real keyframes, objects and curves—so your original meshes and materials stay untouched and can be refined in the Graph Editor.

Who is Slothmograph best for?

Slothmograph is best for blender artists building motion graphics with cloner grids, procedural effectors, animated 3D text, fracture effects and one-click animation presets.

How much does Slothmograph cost?

Slothmograph is completely free to download and use.

Frequently asked questions

Does Slothmograph work with Blender 4.2?

Slothmograph is listed as compatible with Blender 4.2, which is the version noted for this release. If you're on a different Blender version, check the developer's page before installing, since compatibility outside 4.2 isn't stated here. The addon builds rigs, Geometry Nodes and separate objects using standard Blender data, so what it generates stays as real keyframes, real objects and real curves within your scene rather than a proprietary format tied to a single build.

Is Slothmograph free to use?

Slothmograph is listed as free in this catalog. No specific licensing figures are published here, so for current terms and any future changes, the developer's page is the place to confirm. Documentation is listed alongside the addon, which is worth reviewing as you set things up. Since it outputs standard Blender data and never overwrites your original meshes or materials, you can explore its cloners, effectors and presets without altering your existing scene.

What's new in Slothmograph version 1.2?

Slothmograph version 1.2 adds SlothSignal, which lets you right-click a property—location, a modifier value or a shader value—and bind a procedural wave with no keyframes, fully removable and bakeable to F-curves. It also introduces Cinematic Camera rigs (Orbit, Crane, Dolly, Hero and Flythrough) framed on your subject in one click, with multi-camera cut markers. Cloner Dynamics turns any cloner into a Bullet rigid-body simulation with nearest-neighbour connectors, offering ragdoll, brick-wall, chain and suspended presets that bake to keyframes.

Does Slothmograph overwrite my original meshes and materials?

Slothmograph doesn't overwrite your work. It builds rigs, Geometry Nodes and separate objects, so your original meshes, materials and shading are never touched. Everything it generates is standard Blender data—real keyframes, real objects and real curves—which means the addon layers its motion graphics onto your scene rather than replacing existing content. It also includes a Bake for Handoff option for a clean handoff to machines that don't have the addon installed.

Can I edit Slothmograph animations by hand?

Slothmograph generates standard Blender data, so you can jump into the Graph Editor and fine-tune any animation by hand. Its output is real keyframes, real objects and real curves rather than locked node groups. The one-click animation presets also come with live Speed, Amplitude and Stagger controls, letting you dial in timing after applying them. Effectors stay non-destructive and can be stacked, combined and masked with the 11 field types.
