Earns its place in the aescripts library by reducing asset collection for a selected timeline down to a single click.
Smart Collect is a Premiere Pro extension from Igor Burgstaller that gathers the assets used in a selected timeline, including its nested timelines, and relinks them in a single click.
Beyond collecting, it makes a copy on disk of all the assets used only in the selected timeline, then saves a copy of the project with its clips relinked to those copied files. It can also shrink a project by deleting unused assets and timelines.
Smart Collect runs on Premiere Pro from CC 2015 through 2025, covering CC 2015.3, CC 2017, CC 2018, CC 2019, and the 2020 through 2025 releases. The current version is 1.0.1, released February 5, 2024, which fixed a bug that prevented some projects from collecting. A demo video is available.
Smart Collect is best for premiere Pro editors who need to collect and relink the assets tied to a specific timeline, or trim a project down to only the assets and timelines still in use.

Smart Collect supports a broad range of Premiere Pro releases: CC 2015, CC 2015.3, CC 2017, CC 2018, CC 2019, and the 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 versions. If you're running Premiere Pro 2421 (Build 2), note that this build introduced a bug that caused the extension to malfunction. It was fixed in the following update, so updating Premiere Pro resolves the issue if you run into problems on that build.

Smart Collect opens a 'select folder' window as part of its workflow, but in some cases that window appears already minimized. If it doesn't show up on screen, check your operating system taskbar and restore it from there. Bringing the window forward and choosing a destination folder lets the process continue, so this is a known behaviour to watch for rather than a sign the extension has failed.
Smart Collect 1.0.1, released February 5, 2024, fixed a bug that was preventing some projects from being collected. The related error message referenced copying files and free disk space with invalid values. The initial release, version 1.0.0, arrived on November 12, 2020. Updating to 1.0.1 addresses the collection problem seen in earlier builds, so it's the version to run for reliable collecting.
