SolariText stands out in the aescripts library for turning any selected text layer into an animated 3D split-flap board, with V3.0 focusing on a rebuilt fixed-rig engine and grid-style flipboard walls.
SolariText generates fully animated 3D split-flap boards directly from any selected text layer in After Effects. Its Airport / Wall Grid Mode creates display-style flipboard walls, with optional empty filler cards.
Version 3.0 rebuilds the engine around a new fixed-rig card system for cleaner, lighter, and more scalable board generation. It adds three animation start modes — Simultaneous, Sequential, and Random — along with Random Seed and Lock Seed controls for repeatable random patterns. A Fast Preview Mode / Full 3D workflow speeds up setup and offers optional full 3D camera, light, and shadow interaction.
The Create Baked Render Copy workflow produces a more render-friendly version while keeping the editable original setup intact. Version 3.0 also improves large-board performance, timeline responsiveness, and main composition duration handling for sequential and random animation offsets. Compatibility spans After Effects 2026 back through the earlier CC releases.
SolariText is best for after Effects users building animated 3D split-flap board displays and flipboard walls from text layers.
SolariText is completely free to download and use.
SolariText lists compatibility with After Effects 2026, 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, and 2020, plus Creative Cloud releases going back through CC 2019, CC 2018, CC 2017, and the original CC. That range covers both recent and older installations. Version 3.0, released May 27, 2026, updated the internal project structure and metadata detection, so check the developer's page to confirm the setup matches your specific After Effects build before you rely on it in production.
SolariText installs to the ScriptUI Panels folder, after which you open the script panel inside After Effects to start building boards. From the panel you can create a first board with default settings, then adjust options such as sequential animation mode and range-based flip count. For exact installation steps and folder locations on your system, refer to the manual and the developer's page, both of which were updated for the V3.0 workflow.
SolariText offers three animation start modes introduced in version 3.0: Simultaneous, Sequential, and Random. Random Seed and Lock Seed controls let you produce repeatable random animation patterns. The script also handles main composition duration for sequential and random animation offsets, and includes a range-based flip count option. These modes work from any selected text layer, so you set your text and then choose how the cards begin flipping across the board.
SolariText is listed as free in this catalog. Licensing terms can change, so check the developer's page on aescripts for current details before you download it or use it in a project. The product page and manual were updated alongside version 3.0, released May 27, 2026, so they reflect the latest workflow. There you can also confirm how the script is distributed and any conditions attached to its use.
