Why we like it

TextFlex earns its place in the aescripts library for handling character-, word-, and line-level text animation from a single panel, with three animation modes and preset management built in.

What is TextFlex?

TextFlex is a text animation tool for After Effects built to break down text animations by characters, words, or lines. It gives precise control and flexibility, and it does so without the need to keyframe.

The panel covers three animation modes — In, In & Out, and Out only — so you can set how text enters, leaves, or both. A Text Blur property is included, and a 3D checkbox enables Per-Character 3D directly from the panel. A single Animate button handles both the animate and reset actions from one control.

TextFlex also supports presets, with a Delete Preset button for removing a selected preset. It runs across a broad span of After Effects releases, from CC 2015 through the 2026 version, and a demo video is available.

Frequently asked questions

Does TextFlex work with After Effects 2026?

TextFlex supports a broad range of After Effects versions, including 2026, 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, and 2020, along with CC 2019, CC 2018, CC 2017, CC 2015.3, and CC 2015. If you're running any of those releases, TextFlex should install and operate as intended. For builds outside that list, check Lotfi Jilal's page on aescripts to confirm current compatibility before relying on the tool in a production project.

Do I need to set keyframes to animate text with TextFlex?

TextFlex is designed to break down text animations by characters, words, or lines without the need to keyframe. Instead of setting keyframes manually, you drive the animation through the panel, which handles the character-, word-, or line-level breakdown. The tool also includes a single Animate button that covers both the animate and reset functions, so you can apply an animation and clear it again from the same control rather than juggling separate actions.

What animation modes does TextFlex offer?

TextFlex offers three animation modes: In, In & Out, and Out only, letting you set how text enters and leaves. It also includes a Text Blur property and a 3D checkbox that enables Per-Character 3D directly from the panel. Presets can be managed inside TextFlex, including a Delete Preset button that removes a selected preset. Together these controls give you several ways to shape a text animation from the panel without keyframing anything by hand.

Is TextFlex free to use?
