Why we like it

Tilda stands out in the aescripts library for turning shape paths into animated waves, with version 1.3 adding direct parametric-path support.

What is Tilda?

Tilda is an After Effects plugin from Denis Mozgovoy that turns any shape path into animated waves. It works with both Bézier and parametric paths — as of version 1.3, you can apply Tilda to a parametric path directly, without converting it to a Bézier path first.

A Random tab lets you add randomness to the length, height and roundness of the waves. Wave speed is expressed in pixels per second and depends only on the Speed parameter, so changing the wave length no longer alters the actual speed. The "Create on: Same Path" setting keeps a wave's expression referencing itself, even when the path is duplicated.

Tilda runs across After Effects versions 2020 through 2026, and support reaches back to CC 2019. A demo video is available on the developer's page. It earns its place in the aescripts library as a focused way to drive wave animation from existing shape paths.

Who is Tilda best for?

Tilda is best for after Effects artists who want to generate animated waves from existing shape paths, including both Bézier and parametric paths.

How much does Tilda cost?

Tilda is completely free to download and use.

Frequently asked questions

Does Tilda work with After Effects 2026?

Tilda supports After Effects versions 2020 through 2026, covering 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026. Support also reaches back to CC 2019, which was added in an earlier update. If you're on a recent release like After Effects 2025 or 2026, Tilda is listed as compatible, so you can turn shape paths into animated waves on those versions. For confirmation on your exact build, check the developer's page.

Can Tilda use parametric paths without converting them?

Tilda added support for parametric paths in version 1.3, released March 20, 2023. Before that update you needed a Bézier path, but now you can apply Tilda to any parametric path directly, without converting it to a Bézier path first. This lets you drive animated waves from either path type. The change is documented in Tilda's version 1.3 changelog on the developer's page.

Can Tilda randomize the waves?

Tilda includes a Random tab, added in version 1.2, that lets you add randomness to the length, height and roundness of the waves. The same update also made wave speed independent of wave length — speed is now expressed in pixels per second and depends only on the Speed parameter, so adjusting the wave length no longer changes the actual speed of the animation.

Is Tilda free?

Tilda is listed as free in this catalog. Pricing and licensing can change over time, so for current terms and any usage conditions, check the developer's page on aescripts. From there you can also reach the download and the demo video for Tilda, the After Effects plugin that turns any shape path into animated waves. The listing here reflects its status as free at the time of writing.
