Why we like it

Earns its place in the aescripts library by bundling context-aware navigation, a live radar, and trimming tools into a single After Effects panel.

What is TimePilot Pro?

TimePilot Pro is a timeline navigation extension for After Effects that combines context-aware jumping, a live radar track, and trimming tools in one panel. It handles moving the playhead and trimming during editing and animation work.

Navigation runs through four modes. Cuts mode jumps between layer In and Out points, Keys mode jumps between keyframes across selected layers or the whole composition, Markers mode moves between layer and composition markers, and Hybrid mode evaluates all three at once to reach the closest relevant point. Real-time tracking reads the current-time display, playhead, work area, and composition bounds, while the radar track lets you click any timecode to teleport there and shows composition markers as dots.

Trimming and marker tools round out the panel, including Move to CTI, Trim to Content, work area fitting, quick-add markers, Protected Regions, and a smart search that jumps straight to a named marker.

Frequently asked questions

Which After Effects versions does TimePilot Pro support?

TimePilot Pro supports After Effects 2026, 2025, 2024, 2023, and 2022, covering several recent releases of the application. Version 1.0 was released on July 1, 2026 as the initial release candidate. If you run one of these listed versions, the extension is intended to work with your setup. For any versions outside this range, or to confirm the latest supported releases, check the developer's page before installing so you match the extension to your build.

Does TimePilot Pro work with non-English After Effects installs?

TimePilot Pro is built with a cross-language architecture that supports all native After Effects localizations through universal property indexing. This means the extension is designed to function regardless of the language your After Effects interface runs in, rather than being tied to English property names. The approach targets consistent behaviour across localized installs. If you work in a non-English version of After Effects, this design is intended to keep the navigation and trimming features working as expected across your projects.

How does Hybrid mode work in TimePilot Pro?

TimePilot Pro's Hybrid mode evaluates cuts, keys, and markers simultaneously and jumps to the closest relevant point among them. Alongside Hybrid, the extension offers three dedicated modes: Cuts mode jumps between the In and Out points of layers, Keys mode jumps between keyframes and can search selected layers or scan the whole composition, and Markers mode navigates between layer and composition markers only. Hybrid combines these signals so a single jump lands on whichever nearby point is closest.

Is TimePilot Pro free to download?

TimePilot Pro is listed as free in this catalog, so you can add it to your toolkit without a purchase here. Licensing terms can change over time, though, and the developer's page is the best place to confirm the current arrangement before you download. Version 1.0 marks the initial release candidate, dated July 1, 2026, so checking the developer's page also helps you confirm you are getting the most current build alongside its licensing details.
