Zaebects Modulation applies modulation and demodulation algorithms to your footage to create an analog distortion look, and it needs no coding skills to use. Modulation changes the frequency of a signal based on the brightness of the video: higher brightness produces a higher frequency, and lower brightness a lower frequency. This is a process analog systems use to send brightness information through radio waves, recreated digitally so the settings and color channels can be manipulated.
Wave movement is shaped by three parameters. Omega acts like the scale of the waves, Phase controls how much the waves react to colors, and Distortion sets the number of waves. Three lowpass filter checkboxes and one adjustable lowpass filter add a blurring behaviour that works differently inside the modulation algorithm. Direction controls forward and backward movement, while orientation switches between vertical and horizontal.
Five color modes are available: Greyscale, RGB, CMY, CMYK, and HSV. The CMY and CMYK modes are similar but not identical, with the Key color formed at the intersection of the three channels in CMY and modulated separately in CMYK. Individual channels can be switched on and off. As of version 2.1.0, the plugin supports Premiere Pro alongside After Effects.
