AudioToMarkers, developed by Lloyd Alvarez, is an After Effects script that reads audio intensity and turns it into one of three outputs: markers on a layer, a split layer, or a new text layer with incrementing numbers.
The workflow starts by selecting the audio layer and running the Keyframe Assistant command "Convert Audio to Keyframes". You then run the script and choose which layer to mark or split. If the layer you want does not appear, selecting the comp and pressing the Refresh button updates the list, after which you pick one of the three output options.
The script sits at rank 280 in the aescripts library and covers a wide span of After Effects releases, from CS6 through the 2026 version. Version 1.54 fixed an issue with comps not starting at time 0, and earlier updates added support for Sound Keys and a minimum-frames-before-cut feature. A demo video is available.
