Color Llama earns its place in the toolfarm library by turning color pairs into an exportable Cube LUT, bridging its in-app grading with other video and animation software.
Color Llama is a color plugin for After Effects and Premiere Pro that works by making pairs of colors, changing one into another. It suits color grading, matching brand colors, matching footage shot on different cameras, keying, and Colorama-style stylized shots.
Each transformation uses a swatch color and a target color, with convenient handles for the target's hue, saturation, and lightness, plus a target alpha. Style settings offer Change Color, which offsets the colors in the video, and Replace Color, which replaces them. Color Blend modes cover Smooth for a gradual falloff, Sharp for keying work like greenscreen and bluescreen, and Posterized for an abrupt change. A LUT Softness control blurs and blends target colors together in 3D space.
When the result is ready, Export LUT writes the data to a 65x65x65 Cube LUT file for use in most major video and animation software. A Show Original Colors toggle (Shift+R) disables the effect for quick comparison. Color Llama runs in After Effects and Premiere Pro 2024 through 2026.
Color Llama is best for color grading, color-matching shots across different cameras, brand-color matching, keying, and stylized Colorama-style looks in After Effects and Premiere Pro.
Color Llama is completely free to download and use.
Color Llama supports After Effects 2026, 2025, and 2024, along with Premiere Pro 2026, 2025, and 2024, so the 2024 releases of both hosts are covered. That same version list appears as the plugin's stated requirements, so no additional host versions are documented here. If you run a release older than 2024, check the developer's page before installing, since compatibility outside this range isn't stated in this listing. The most recent update to the listing is dated September 30, 2025.
Color Llama exports your color data to a 65x65x65 Cube LUT file using the Export LUT button. Cube LUTs are usable in most major video and animation software, so a look built inside After Effects or Premiere Pro can travel to other applications in your pipeline. This makes the plugin useful for building corrections and color matches in one place, then carrying the result elsewhere.
Color Llama offers a Sharp (Keying) color blend mode, where the falloff between colors is still gradual but more direct and with less bleed. According to the developer, this mode tends to work better for keying tasks such as greenscreen and bluescreen. For other jobs, the Smooth mode gives a gradual falloff between colors, while Posterized produces an abrupt change between them. Choosing the right blend mode comes down to whether you want a clean key or a softer, more blended color transition.
Color Llama version 1.0.1, dated September 29, 2025, improved speed and performance with high-resolution footage. That is the only change noted for this release in the listing. The plugin's last-updated date is recorded as September 30, 2025, a day after the 1.0.1 changelog entry. No earlier version history is documented here, so for the full list of updates and any changes newer than this entry, check the developer's page directly.
Color Llama is listed as free here in the catalog. For current licensing terms and any conditions on use, check the developer's page, since pricing and distribution details can change over time and aren't guaranteed by this listing. The entry covers the plugin for both After Effects and Premiere Pro across their 2024, 2025, and 2026 releases, and the most recent update is dated September 30, 2025. Confirming details with the developer is the safest way to know what you're getting.
