3D Flip Book Effect is an Adobe After Effects project file rather than a plugin, so there's nothing to install. Most of the work is already done, and you customize from there. It's compatible with After Effects CS5 and all later versions, runs on both PCs and Macs, and requires no additional plugins. The template has been universalized to work in After Effects running in any language.
Page turns are continuous and automatic and follow your customization settings. You can use keyframes to start and stop the turning and to animate the speed over time. The effect works with video footage and still images, though stills need to be edited into a sequence, which the written instructions cover. You can close, open, position and rotate the book in three dimensions, separate turned pages for a card-toss effect, adjust page bending, and change the book's thickness and dimensions.
A 2021 update added 4K comps, improved functionality and a cleaner interface. Four preset comps, 21 paper textures, an optional comic book effect, a video tutorial and written instructions are included.
