FilmConvert Hazy is a diffusion plugin that brings the effect of shooting with mist filters into post. It diffuses strong light in your footage to create a soft, dreamy look, softening bright areas, smoothing uneven skin tones and adding bloom to strong light sources. It runs as a standalone plugin that can be used with any workflow.
The plugin ships with a range of presets based on mist filter styles, each with strength options that control the spread and intensity of the effect. Filter size shapes the result: a smaller size concentrates bloom more tightly around bright light sources, while a larger size spreads a softer glow across the whole image. The glow also reduces the sharpness and contrast that comes with shooting digitally.
For finer control, Hazy includes custom response controls that determine the rolloff of the effect. FilmConvert Hazy is available as plugins for Adobe Creative Cloud 2018 and later, DaVinci Resolve 16 and later, and Final Cut Pro 10.6.1 and later. On macOS, the Adobe and Resolve versions require macOS 10.15 or newer, while the Final Cut Pro version requires macOS 11.5.1 or newer. FilmConvert Hazy is Apple Silicon compatible across its Adobe, DaVinci Resolve and Final Cut Pro versions. On macOS, the Adobe and Resolve plugins require macOS 10.15 or later, while the Final Cut Pro plugin requires macOS 11.5.1 or later. One note on older hardware: Intel Iris Pro graphics from around 2014 are not supported, so some very old machines may fall outside the requirements even when the operating system version matches.
FilmConvert Hazy uses GPU acceleration. On Windows, the Adobe version needs CUDA 10.1 or later or OpenCL 1.1 or later, and the DaVinci Resolve version needs OpenCL or CUDA. Systems running Intel Iris Pro graphics from around 2014 are not supported. If your GPU and drivers meet the CUDA or OpenCL requirements listed for your host application, Hazy should run as expected.
