Earns its place in the superhive library for a tidy, focused job: framing camera renders and keeping overlays fixed to the camera through any move, rotation, or shift.
Frame On Camera is an add-on for Blender that adds a border to the camera lens, so a rendered image looks as though it sits inside a picture frame. The selector includes five different picture frames to choose from.
Beyond frames, you can apply a 'Look Through' image to the lens for the impression of looking through a keyhole, binoculars, a rifle scope, an open window, or a car window. You can also supply your own images, and multiple cameras can each carry a border, a look-through filter, or a custom transparent image. Whichever image you select stays fixed to the camera as that camera is rotated, moved, or shifted.
A 'restore camera' button erases the selection and returns the camera to its default state, letting you use it without any borders. The add-on works with Blender 4.4 and 4.3, is released under the GPL license, and is listed as a Blender extension. Documentation is available, along with a demo video.
Frame On Camera is best for blender users who want rendered images to appear inside a picture frame or behind look-through overlays like a keyhole, binoculars, or a scope.
Frame On Camera is completely free to download and use.
Frame On Camera lists compatibility with Blender 4.4 and 4.3, and it is marked as Blender extension compatible. Version 1.0 was the initial release for Blender 4.3. The add-on is distributed under the GPL license and is listed with an add-on extension type. If you run a different Blender version, check the developer's page to confirm support before installing, since only 4.4 and 4.3 are listed here.
Frame On Camera includes five picture frames in its selector and a set of 'Look Through' images for effects such as a keyhole, binoculars, a rifle scope, an open window, or a car window. Beyond those, you can supply your own images, and each of multiple cameras can carry a border, a look-through filter, or your own transparent image. Whichever image you choose stays fixed to the camera as it is rotated, moved, or shifted.
Frame On Camera provides a 'restore camera' button that erases the current selection from the camera, returning it to a default camera. That lets you go back to using the camera without any borders or overlays once you are done. The add-on also supports multiple cameras, each able to hold its own border, look-through filter, or transparent image, so you can manage framing on a per-camera basis.
Frame On Camera is listed as free in this catalog, so you can add it without a purchase here. The add-on is released under the GPL license and is marked as a Blender extension. For current licensing terms and any updates, check the developer's page directly, since terms can change over time. Documentation and a demo video are also available if you want to see more before installing.
