Layer Displayer earns its place in the aescripts library for turning layer filtering into short typed commands, spanning masks, nulls, labels, parenting and custom groups, plus keyframe selection.
Layer Displayer is a script for After Effects that shows only the layers you need at a given moment. You control what appears through short typed commands. These include hiding masks (msk), nulls (n), locked layers (lo), enabled layers (en), or both locked and enabled layers together (le).
Other commands reveal layers rather than hide them: 'wa' reveals layers within the work area, 'vn' reveals layers with a grey label only, and 'gl' shows guide layers. You can display layers by matching the labels of selected layers (l#), or those shared with a selected layer's parent (pa). The 'is' command flips the Shy parameter of all layers to the opposite.
For keyframes, 'kfs' selects keys under the time slider for selected layers and 'ksfs' selects keys within their work area. Layers can also be grouped without relying on labels, then shown by group name, while 'remove groups' clears all groups from a selected layer. This is version 1.08, updated May 6, 2021, compatible with After Effects 2020, CC 2019 and CC 2018. A demo video is available.
