Review Importer earns its place in the aescripts library by turning review comments exported as CSV into timeline markers inside After Effects, with support that has grown to cover kollaborate.tv, Vimeo, frame.io and screenlight.tv.
Review Importer is an After Effects script from Konstantin Reinhart that imports comments from video review sites directly into your timeline. Across its release history it has added support for kollaborate.tv, Vimeo, frame.io and screenlight.tv.
The process starts on the review site, where you export the comments as a CSV file. Depending on the platform, this may mean exporting by selecting Adobe Premiere Pro or downloading the comments as CSV. Back in After Effects, open the relevant composition, run the script and select the CSV. You can pick a color for the markers that represent each review, then click Import.
The script creates a text layer that holds the reviews as markers, and toggling the layer's visibility shows a text overlay. Version 01.07 works with After Effects 2024 back through CC 2018, and a demo video is available.
Review Importer is best for after Effects users bringing client or reviewer comments from kollaborate.tv, Vimeo, frame.io or screenlight.tv into a composition as markers.

Review Importer lists compatibility with After Effects 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020, CC 2019 and CC 2018, so it covers a wide span of recent and older releases. Version 01.07, updated on February 13, 2024, includes a bug fix for a change in the frame.io CSV table. If you run one of these versions, open the composition you want the review notes in before running the script and pointing it at your exported CSV file.
Review Importer works with comments exported from kollaborate.tv, Vimeo and frame.io, which were supported from its first release, plus screenlight.tv, which was added later. The export step happens on the review site, where you download the comments as a CSV file; on some platforms this means exporting by selecting Adobe Premiere Pro. Once you have the CSV, you run the script in After Effects and select that file to bring the notes in.
