Layer Name Tag is a script for After Effects that arranges pre-comp layers into a grid and generates text labels above each one. The Auto Grid function organizes layers into a clean, configurable layout, with a choice of 2, 3, or 4 columns and gutter widths of 20, 40, 60, or 80 pixels.
The Add Labels function creates text overlays above each pre-comp, pulling the layer name automatically. Position, size, and color are customizable. Labels stay connected to their source, so renaming a layer in the timeline or the project panel updates the label live.
