Why we like it

Marker Maestro Pro earns its place in the aescripts library as a markers panel that After Effects lacks natively, pulling Comp and Layer markers into one view with in-place editing, batch changes and timecode shorthand.

What is Marker Maestro Pro?

Marker Maestro Pro is a dedicated markers panel for After Effects, built by Rob Womack. It brings together every marker in a Comp, showing both Comp and Layer markers along with their timecode, comment, color and layer number in a single view.

From that panel you can edit marker properties instantly without leaving the interface, and apply batch edits across several markers at once. Markers can be shifted in time horizontally or moved to another layer vertically, and you can copy and paste markers to multiple layers or Comps. Entering positions supports timecode shorthand such as "1.2.0" or "010200".

Double-clicking a marker row jumps to that marker, and you can set the Comp work area to a selected marker's position. The panel also brings an improved UI and UX. Version 2.0.1, released on June 20, 2025, resolved Beta Mode and dependency issues. It runs with After Effects 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022 and 2021.

Who is Marker Maestro Pro best for?

Marker Maestro Pro is best for after Effects users who work heavily with Comp and Layer markers and want to view, edit and reorganise them from a single panel.

How much does Marker Maestro Pro cost?

Marker Maestro Pro is completely free to download and use.

Frequently asked questions

Does Marker Maestro Pro work with After Effects 2025?

Marker Maestro Pro supports After Effects 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022 and 2021, covering recent releases across the past several versions. Version 2.0.1, released on June 20, 2025, resolved Beta Mode and dependency issues. If you run one of the listed versions, the panel should load without needing a different release of After Effects. For any versions outside that range, check the developer's page for the latest compatibility details before installing.

Is Marker Maestro Pro free?

Marker Maestro Pro is listed as free in this catalog. Pricing and licensing terms can change over time, so the developer's page on aescripts is the best place to confirm the current terms before you download. The plugin comes from Rob Womack and, at version 2.0.1, includes the full marker panel feature set: displaying every Comp and Layer marker, editing properties in place, batch edits, and copying markers across layers and Comps.

Can Marker Maestro Pro edit multiple markers at once?

Marker Maestro Pro includes batch editing of marker properties, so you can change values across several markers rather than one at a time. It also lets you edit marker properties instantly without leaving the interface, shift markers in time horizontally, and move them to another layer vertically. Beyond editing, you can copy and paste markers to multiple layers or Comps. Double-clicking a marker row jumps to that marker, and you can set the Comp work area to a selected marker's position.

How does timecode shorthand work in Marker Maestro Pro?

Marker Maestro Pro accepts timecode shorthand when entering marker positions, using formats such as "1.2.0" or "010200". The panel displays each marker's timecode alongside its comment, color and layer number for both Comp and Layer markers within a Comp. You can also shift markers in time horizontally, and double-click a marker row to jump straight to it. For the exact behaviour of the shorthand and the rest of the interface, a demo video is available and the developer's page covers the details.
