Why we like it

MarkerMover earns a spot in the aescripts library for focusing squarely on marker workflows in After Effects, from moving and copying markers to using them as animation triggers. Recent updates added KBar support and light mode compatibility for After Effects 2025 and up.

What is MarkerMover?

MarkerMover is a toolset for manipulating markers in After Effects, built by Rob Barrett. It handles both comp and layer markers, letting you move, copy, cut, paste, and delete them, set the value by which markers move, and switch the time format between frames and seconds.

Beyond basic manipulation, MarkerMover can save and apply work area settings, create a dummy comp markers layer, and apply a marker trigger expression to selected properties so markers drive animation on keyframed properties. You can copy markers to and paste from Memory Banks, toggle Split Markers, Protected Region Markers, and Paste to CTI, and reach options, a user guide, and licence info from the panel.

The plugin lists compatibility with After Effects 2026 through 2021. Version 1.1.1 added KBar support with included icons and an import file, updated the UI for light mode in After Effects 2025 and upwards, and set the panel to update icons when modifier keys are pressed. A demo video is available.

Who is MarkerMover best for?

MarkerMover is best for after Effects artists who work heavily with comp and layer markers and want to move, copy, and manage them, and use markers to trigger animation on keyframed properties.

How much does MarkerMover cost?

Frequently asked questions

Which After Effects versions does MarkerMover support?

MarkerMover lists compatibility with After Effects 2026, 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022, and 2021, covering several years of releases. The current version is 1.1.3, updated on February 12, 2025, which brought an updated licence framework aimed at resolving activation problems some users had encountered. If you run one of the listed After Effects versions, MarkerMover is built to work with it. For confirmation on the latest supported builds, check the developer's page before installing.

Does MarkerMover work with KBar?

MarkerMover added KBar support in version 1.1.1, and the download includes KBar icons and an import file. The instructions PDF was updated with KBar setup steps and a user guide to help you get the panel wired into your toolbar. A later fix in version 1.1.2 corrected the path to the script in the KBar import file. If you rely on KBar for triggering scripts in After Effects, MarkerMover is set up to integrate with it.

Does MarkerMover support light mode in After Effects?

MarkerMover updated its interface to support light mode in After Effects 2025 and upwards, a change introduced in version 1.1.1. The same update refreshed the underlying JavaScript framework and made the panel update its icons when modifier keys are pressed, so modifier functions are easier to spot. MarkerMover also checks that a composition is active before running its functions. If you work in After Effects 2025 or later with light mode enabled, MarkerMover's panel is designed to match.

Is MarkerMover free to use?

MarkerMover is listed as free in this catalog, so you can add it to your After Effects setup without a purchase here. Licensing terms can change over time, and version 1.1.3 specifically updated the licence framework to address activation issues, so it's worth checking the developer's page for the current licensing details before you download. That page is also the place to confirm activation steps if you run into any trouble getting MarkerMover running.
