Motion Subtitle Maker is an After Effects script from Xavier Lafontaine that automates the creation of animated subtitles from an SRT file. It renders those subtitles to QuickTime video files or to PNG files.
Alongside the video rendering files, the script generates fcpxml and xml files that import the subtitles back into the timeline with frame-accurate precision. Compositions can also be re-exported using their xml files, without recreating them from the SRT. Template fonts download automatically from Adobe Fonts, and the interface is available in French.
The script is compatible with After Effects 2026, 2025, 2024, 2023, and 2022. It ranks 10 on aescripts, making it one of the most popular scripts in that library. A demo video is available on the developer's page.
